The Creator’s Creative Voice: Pocholo Gonzales at TEDx Xavier School
In a world saturated with sound, true voices don’t just speak—they inspire, ignite, and awaken. And at TEDx Xavier School 2022, that voice was none other than Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales, the man behind thousands of characters, brands, and dreams in the world of voice acting.
But this wasn’t just another talk—it was a masterclass in purpose, passion, and authenticity.
🎙️ The Man Behind a Thousand Voices
Pocholo Gonzales is widely known as the pioneer of modern voice acting in the Philippines. Starting his career at age 16, he has since become an award-winning broadcaster, entrepreneur, author, director, and trainer. From radio dramas and anime to video games and public announcements, his voice has become part of everyday Filipino life.
At TEDx, he posed a question that made everyone pause:
“Can you imagine a world without a voice?”
It wasn’t rhetorical—it was a challenge. A reminder that behind every cartoon character, every dubbed drama, every announcement we ignore at malls or terminals, there is a person, a story, a creator’s creative voice.
🌱 From Silence to Significance
Raised in Bataan with no TV and limited resources, Pocholo found joy and inspiration in the world of radio. His childhood heroes weren’t superheroes on screen—but voices on air. This fascination led him to audition for DZMM’s voice acting competition, where he bested over 10,000 hopefuls and earned his first major break.
But the road wasn't smooth. Rejection, politics, and gatekeeping in the industry tried to mute his dreams. Still, he persisted—because his voice had something to say.
🏆 Building Platforms, Not Pedestals
Instead of climbing alone, Pocholo built ladders for others. He founded:
- Creative Voices Productions
- Voice Acting Academy Philippines
- Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP)
- And co-founded platforms like MetaVoices, Dubbing Booth Company, and Voice of the Youth Network
To date, he has trained thousands of voice artists, dubbing talents, public speakers, and content creators—not just to speak louder, but to speak truer.
“I don’t want to be known as the Man of a Thousand Voices. I want to be remembered as the Man Behind a Thousand Voices.”
🧠 Teach-nology, Not Just Technology
At TEDx, Pocholo introduced his concept of "Teach-nology"—the fusion of teaching and technology to empower people, especially in a digital, post-pandemic world. While many industries paused during COVID-19, he pushed forward, offering free online workshops, launching CVAP, and building new content channels like V Tagalab and Manga Room, with millions of followers worldwide.
For him, it wasn’t about keeping the voice alive—it was about keeping dreams alive.
💬 It’s Not Just Your Voice. It’s Your Message.
Throughout the talk, Pocholo emphasized that the most powerful voice is not the loudest, but the most purposeful.
“Your voice is your gift from God. How you use it is your gift back to Him.”
In a deeply moving Q&A, he reminded aspiring voice artists:
- Confidence can be learned.
- Good voices are not born—they’re found and honed.
- And voice acting isn’t just about changing tones—it’s about sharing emotion and living the message.
🎤 Be Heard for the Right Reasons
Whether you’re an aspiring dubber, a teacher, a creator, or someone still discovering your path—Pocholo’s talk is a call to action:
“In a noisy world, let your story—not just your sound—be heard.”
This TEDx talk wasn't just a showcase of vocal talent. It was a tribute to identity, a lesson in purpose, and a celebration of those brave enough to speak not because they want attention, but because they have something to say.
And in that auditorium, full of curious minds and hopeful hearts, The VoiceMaster didn’t just talk—he transformed.
