Business Symposium at ACTS Computer College, Laguna

On September 24, 300 Business students of ACTS Computer College gathered at the Cultural Center of Laguna in Sta. Cruz, Laguna to attend their Annual BEST, or Business Entrepreneur Synergies Symposium Thrust. With the theme “Together we can make the Philippine economy number one in Asia,” the half-day symposium featured speakers to share their expertise and stories to motivate the students to do well in their entrepreneurial journey.

ACTS’ School Director Prof. Ruben Macalinao opened the event with his speech, discussing the future trends of businesses in the Philippines, particularly in the IT-BPM industry. An intermission number followed his speech, with select students from the Department of Computer Studies performing various Filipino folk dances such as Palayok Dance and Sayaw sa Bangko.

The intermission number was immediately followed by the first speaker, Voice Care Philippines’ Executive Director, Ada Cuaresma, who talked about Personal Branding. She started the talk with an energizing activity to brighten up the morning, then proceeded with explaining personal branding, as well as tips on how anyone can establish their personal brand. Ada also inspired the audience by sharing her life story, and how personal branding is all about responding to one’s “calling” in life.

After the talk on Personal Branding, Ms. Lynette Zotomayor, Founder of Lynderm Facial Center and Day Spa, took the stage to share the story of how she set up her business – from playing with her interests in cosmetics until she grew her center with franchises in various places in Metro Manila and some nearby provinces.

The Annual BEST was capped off with closing remarks from the event’s overall Chairperson, Mrs. Guadalupe Rocamora. The students left the event with a fresh and empowering perspective on being the next generation of Filipino entrepreneurs.
