The College of Business Administration and Accountancy held its whole-day General Assembly entitled “Elevate: General Assembly 2016” last January 28, 2016, at the Ugnayang La Salle Gymnasium. Almost a thousand students of the said college filled the gymnasium for a day of fun, learning, and motivation.
The morning of the General Assembly featured 2 of the country’s most sought-after motivational speakers, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales and Al Ian Barcelona for “Elevate: On Success, Motivation and Leadership.” After the opening remarks, The VoiceMaster took the stage and delivered a talk about PASSION and how to wake up every day with excitement and purpose.
He gave the “2-minute formula” for discovering one’s life purpose by answering 5 simple yet profound questions about yourself and what you can do. It led to him sharing his own journey to becoming the VoiceMaster – how he discovered his love for voice acting at a very young age, and how he didn’t waste a moment to fulfill his dreams even while he was in school. He shared how he has encountered many challenges along the way, but he came through to where he is today because he focused on and committed himself to use his greatest gift – his VOICE. Of course, the audience had to hear his whole array of character voices, which left them amazed.
After the VoiceMaster, his mentor and good friend Al Ian Barcelona of AIB Training spoke next about leadership and qualities that make a great team player. He opened his talk with a great energizer – making the audience dance, shout and laugh. He then moved on to sharing his young beginnings as a teacher, then as a trainer and motivational speaker. The bulk of his presentation featured leadership principles from world-renowned leaders and shared how the students can use this knowledge and words of wisdom in their daily lives.
The highlight of the morning assembly was the Q&A portion, where the 2 speakers were joined by yet another motivational speaker and good friend, Lloyd Luna. Dubbed as the “Three Musketeers of Public Speaking,” Pocholo, Lloyd and Ian shared the stage to answer the questions of the students on how to be successful, how to be an inspiration, and even on how to “move on”. The audience found themselves amazed, entertained, mesmerized and captivated as the Three Musketeers showed both their funny and serious sides in answering the questions – with their quirks, banters and, yes, freestyle rapping!
The second half of the General Assembly is an entertainment program with bands, dance, and raffle.
