The VoiceMaster Inspires Future Innovators in Mindoro

On February 29, 2016, ComGuild held the 1st Regional Power Conference of IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Education and Social Science Students in Mindoro State College of Agriculture and Technology in Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro. With the theme “Innovations, Social Awareness and Responsibilities in the Digital Age,” the conference aimed to educate the students on the many ways to innovate, especially in the age of the internet, social media and touchscreens.

As early as the beginning of the event, the audience was immediately energized by the first speaker, Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. Pocholo, with his repertoire of character voices, impersonations and “hugot lines,” had the crowd roaring in laughter and amazement. In his talk entitled “Innovate Yourself Today,” the VoiceMaster inspired the students to become innovators in their own way. He introduced the concept of being a FUTURIST – someone whose actions are based on the future they intend to create. One of his quotable quotes from the talk was “Do something today that your future self will thank you for.” He reminded the audience to be more intentional with their future, and that knowing how to innovate will get them there.

Pocholo went on to share his personal journey towards becoming the VoiceMaster of the Philippines, and how innovation has helped a lot in getting them there. From being a voice artist to radio broadcaster to motivational speaker, Pocholo has learned to innovate his personal brand by taking existing concepts in his fields of expertise and doing something new. Pocholo also learned to develop the learner mindset, where he continuously acquires new knowledge and skills in line with his interests and passion. He encouraged the students to use their youthfulness to your own advantage by becoming an inspiration to other people.

The event was hosted by Mr. Bobby Yan and Ms. Loriejane Rey. The other speakers invited were Erwin Globio, Mae Paner, and Michael Lobrin.
