The Philippine Center for Voice Acting, the first and most well-known voice acting school in the Philippines, conducted its first-ever Advanced Voice Acting Workshop entitled “Voiceworx Level Up”. It was held on March 11 at the Creativoices Productions headquarters in Makati City. The workshop was facilitated by voice artist and trainer Ada Cuaresma, and Creativoices CEO and Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.
Close to 20 Voiceworx students from various batches attended the whole-day workshop, which focused more on detailed, intense and highly-involved acting exercises. Using the trainers’ background in Speech and Theater, both Ada and Pocholo facilitated activities that enabled the students to bring out emotions and create various characters using the voice. The students were also given an opportunity to express their creativity through writing scripts and then performing them in front of the class.
The VoiceMaster also inspired the students by speaking about his 22-year journey in the voice acting industry. He shared the trials, challenges, and failures he encountered, and the politics and monopoly he had to overcome to become the most recognized and respected Filipino voice artist. He told of the reality about the industry, and how determination and dedication to the craft is key to surviving and thriving as a voice artist.
The workshop ended with the students taking an oath to respect voice acting as an art and profession, and not just as a “gig” or “sideline,” and to be an inspiration of passion and commitment to aspiring voice artists.
The Philippine Center for Voice Acting was founded in 2005 under Creativoices Productions. Its flagship training called “Voiceworx” is an 8-week workshop that teaches the fundamentals of dubbing, voiceover, and voice acting.
