Empowering Parenthood: The VoiceMaster at Colegio San Agustin’s Parents’ Day
Raising Purposeful Children in a Digital Age
In a world that moves at the speed of a scroll and defines success through screens, it’s refreshing—and deeply needed—to hear a voice that reminds us of what truly matters: purpose, values, and intentional parenting. During Colegio San Agustin’s Parents’ Day, that voice came loud and clear from none other than Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales.
A celebrated figure in voice acting, youth advocacy, and public speaking, Pocholo didn’t just speak to a crowd—he connected, laughed, reflected, and, most importantly, inspired families to raise children not just for success—but for significance.
🎤 A Voice That Started with Silence
Growing up in Mariveles, Bataan without access to a television, young Pocholo found his joy in listening to radio dramas. Shows like Gabi ng Lagim sparked his imagination, and soon, he was mimicking voices, unknowingly training for a career that would make him the most recognized name in Philippine voice acting.
He began professionally at age 16 after winning a voice competition on DZMM’s Radyo Radyo. From there, he became the voice behind thousands of commercials, anime, dubbed telenovelas, video games, and cartoons.
But as Pocholo shared with CSA parents, his success wasn’t just about talent—it was about discipline, learning, and deeply knowing your purpose.
👨👦 Father, Mentor, Legacy Builder
One of the most touching parts of his talk was when he shared how he raised his son, Patrick Gabriel Gonzales, to become a public speaker, broadcaster, and voice talent at an early age.
“I didn’t wait for the world to teach him—I taught him first. I taught him how to speak, how to express himself, how to dream.”
Patrick, now a confident and articulate teen, has hosted radio shows, done voice acting work, and inspired other youth through public speaking. Their father-son dynamic reflects more than just legacy—it reflects intentional parenting with purpose.
Pocholo emphasized that parenting in the digital age is not about controlling your child—it’s about guiding them to find and use their voice.
🧠 Raising Kids with Character, Not Just Credentials
During his talk, Pocholo reminded parents:
“Don’t just raise achievers—raise dreamers with direction. Raise kids who know who they are.”
He urged parents to help their children identify their core competencies, follow their hearts, and build on their natural gifts—especially in a time when careers can be built from laptops and influence can come from passion projects.
He also taught families the importance of personal branding, explaining that in a world ruled by Google and social media, your online presence is your new résumé. And if you don’t define your own brand, someone else will.
🌍 Adapting to the New Normal
As someone who pivoted powerfully during the pandemic, launching the Voice From Home Program and the Certified Voice Artist Program (CVAP), Pocholo understands how drastically education and skill-building have shifted.
“The classroom is no longer the only space to learn. The internet is your teacher, your platform, and your opportunity.”
He encouraged students and parents alike to learn continuously, to adapt quickly, and to use technology to serve, not just to scroll.
💡 Focus on Purpose, Not Just Success
In his powerful conclusion, The VoiceMaster left CSA parents and students with a lasting call to action:
“Success is fleeting. But purpose? Purpose lasts a lifetime. Do something today that your future self will thank you for.”
He reminded the crowd that Gen Z is both the luckiest and unluckiest generation—blessed with tools and access, yet overwhelmed with distractions and pressures.
What matters most, he said, is raising a generation that doesn’t just consume content, but creates change.
