On November 20-24, 2015, thousands of young people from the different ASEAN countries gathered at the Pluit Village in Jakarta, Indonesia for the 2015 ASEAN Youth Expo.
The government of Indonesia, in partnership with the OTP Foundation, held the ASEAN Youth Expo 2015 with the aim to encourage the young people of the ASEAN to contribute to their dreams in fostering great unity to ASEAN countries and cultivate its strengths. With the theme “The ASEAN Action,” the lineup of activities centered around marine life and how it can be cultivated through different aspects such as modern entrepreneurship, youth capacity development, teamwork, and marine ideologies.
The week-long event featured cultural performances, workshops, education and scholarship opportunities and a marine expo.
Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was invited to speak at the expo for the public talk show they called “The Golden Pitch,” which happened on November 21st. He was joined by other youth leaders and entrepreneurs on stage to share their expertise on how to pitch in an idea that can be turned into a business, advocacy or social enterprise.
The VoiceMaster talked about personal branding and shared his expertise on how someone needs to be able to communicate WHO THEY ARE in order for people to buy into the idea that they are pitching. He delivered some inspiring and motivating words to the young audience, especially on how each person can live out their passions and aspirations in order to inspire other people to do the same. The VoiceMaster encouraged the audience to take action and bring out the greatness that’s within them. Of course, the VoiceMaster was prodded to showcase his voice acting talent by imitating famous cartoon characters.
With the ASEAN Integration, events such as the ASEAN Youth Expo becomes another step towards achieving the ASEAN vision 2020 – to become a concert of Southeast Asian nations, outward-looking, living in peace, stability, and prosperity bonded together in partnership in dynamic development and in a community of caring societies.
