Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales has inspired and motivated about a dozen of the “Ambassador” members of Arun Gogna’s Success Speakers Club on March 10, 2016, at the AIM Conference Center. Success Speakers Club is an international organization where members get to learn all about public speaking through newsletters, video courses, and live workshops.
The 2-hour workshop started with Pocholo’s inspirational talk about the importance and the power of the voice, not only in public speaking but even in everyday life. He shared his own story about how he used his voice not only to create character voices but also to inspire, motivate and empower his fellow Filipinos. He also gave the participants a “glimpse” of the future, and how the voice would remain to be the human race’s most powerful tool no matter how much and how fast technology may evolve.
After Pocholo’s talk, he called on stage Ada Cuaresma, also known as the “Voice Care Queen”. Ada did a mini-workshop about the role of the voice in public speaking. With the premise that “it’s not WHAT you say, but HOW you say it,” Ada focused on how the elements of the voice can be used to create what is called vocal variety. Vocal variety is about using the elements of voice to bring a speech to life. Ada also explained the concept of vocal image and encouraged the participants to consider their voice as part of their entire image as a public speaker. She also discussed voice projection and tone and had the participants go through exercises to simulate how the voice affects and alters the meaning of their speeches.
The workshop ended with a Q&A where Pocholo and Ada answered questions about taking care of the voice and shared their best practices on how to use the voice in a proper way.
Arun Gogna is a sought-after international lay preacher of The Feast. He has also been invited by organizations and schools all over the country as a resource speaker, and an in-house author of the Abiva Publishing Corporation.
