The First Cabuyao Young Entrepreneurs Summit was held on August 13, 2018 at the Malayan Colleges Inc. in Cabuyao, Laguna. Dozens of Senior High and College students studying Marketing and Business courses participated in the whole day event to learn about entrepreneurship from speakers who are successful entrepreneurs in their respective fields.
The morning session opened with representatives from Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Laguna and DTI Region 4A. Also present to give his inspirational message was Cabuyao City Mayor Atty. Rommel Gecolea. The main part of the summit was divided into three aspects of entrepreneurship – mindset, model and market/mentor. Each session was comprised of short speech from each speaker, followed by an open forum to entertain questions from the participants.
Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was part of the third section, market/mentor. In his 15-minute speech, Pocholo talked about his entrepreneurial journey in establishing his company Creativoices Productions. He talked about how his love for voice acting began growing up in the province, listening to the radio drama Gabi ng Lagim because they have no television at home. He amazed the audience as he did a re-enactment of the radio drama, doing the voices of all the characters. He also showed the video clip of Creativoices being featured in ABS CBN’s Kabuhayang Swak na Swak.
An open forum followed after Pocholo’s talk, together with fellow speaker and entrepreneur Rommel Gerodias. A handful of students came forward to ask questions, learn tips and get ideas on how they can start their own entrepreneurial journey. Pocholo responded to the students’ questions with wit and humor, yet still inspiring them to start a business on something that they are passionate about, and not only a business that will profit them.
The First Cabuyao Young Entrepreneurs Summit was organized by the Negosyo Center Cabuyao City, City Cooperative and Livelihood Development Office, and Youth Development Affairs Office, in partnership with Young Entrepreneurs Society of Cabuyao and Juan Kabuyaw Movement.
