What are the odds that a long-time supporter will meet his idol? Either just a stroke of luck or if the idol does something out of his way to make it happen. The VoiceMaster, Pocholo Gonzales, did more than that as he even provided the opportunity to let a dreamer from Mindanao fulfill his dream of becoming a voice acting artist.
Marcelo Credo, a fresh graduate from Northern Cotabato and currently in Makati City to start building his career, was given a full scholarship in the VoiceWorx. This is not new to the VoiceMaster as he found ways to help any dreamer to start going after his dreams. Last October 19, 2019, while Marcelo is attending the 3rd session of VoiceWorx, he was completely surprised that the VoiceMaster visited the VoiceWorx Batch 50.
It was a wonderful moment and he was overwhelmed seeing his idol that he was even teary-eyed with this first encounter. Truly, the VoiceMaster is one of his inspiration to succeed in life. In a short interview with Marcelo, he revealed when he started looking up to his idol.
According to him, it was back in 2017 he was still in second-year college when he first heard about Pocholo Gonzales. His professor in a major subject played two YouTube videos for them to be inspired and know more veterans in the voice acting industry. “Natatandaan ko pa yung title Filipino Dubbing 101 at Personage with Pocholo Gonzales.”, he even remembered this detail.
Marcelo recalled that when he watched the videos and the VoiceMaster introduced himself as a director and voice acting expert, his dream of becoming a voice acting artist himself solidified.
Marcelo promised himself he will also fulfill his dream of becoming a voice acting artist. He started searching for the VoiceMaster in Facebook, liked the pages “Gusto Kong Maging Voice Talent” and “Philippine Center for Voice Acting”. He found out his idol helped more dreamers like him as they become his students and propelled them towards the reality of their dreams. This deepened his admiration and respect for the VoiceMaster. Thus, seeing him personally for the first time is a remarkable moment.
He recounted his childhood days which is strikingly similar to his idol. He was still in elementary when he is listening to the radio dramas and watching cartoons. He imitates those different voices like a child and an elder. His classmates even jokingly said he’s crazy because sometimes he practices on his own so it seems he’s talking to himself. This fascination to voice acting grew more as he reached in his high school and college days. He really wants to hear his voice on radio and TV.
He thought it was impossible to make it happen, but thanks to the VoiceMaster, Marcelo is within reach of his dreams.
It was a defining moment for him when the VoiceMaster himself told him to attend the VoiceWorx in the CreativSounds studios. He immediately grabbed the opportunity, “Hinding hindi po ako nag dalawang isip na non sobrang saya ko ko po sa feeling na na yun, to be honest po umiyak din po ako noong araw na yun kasi hindi ko po akalain na mabibigyan po ako ng malaking oportunidad na maipakita ko at maiparinig ko yung talent ko.”
The dreamer from Northern Cotabato looks ahead to his promising future and assures he will do his best to make out of the most from this opportunity.
The VoiceMaster, once again, mirrored his vision to be “The Man Behind A Thousand Voices” as he is relentless in fulfilling the dreams of more aspiring voice acting artists.
