Comguild’s Media and Technical Students’ Conference was held on October 13, 2018, at the GT Toyota Asian Center at the University of the Philippines, Diliman. Over 500 Mass Communication and IT students from all over the country attended the conference to learn from the knowledge and expertise of the featured speakers.
Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales capped off the morning session with his presentation about pursuing a career in voice acting. He shared his personal journey on how he became a professional voice artist at the young age of 16, and how he opened the voice acting industry to thousands of aspiring voice artists through his school, the Philippine Center for Voice Acting. He also amazed the students with his repertoire of voice impressions – from cartoon characters to famous personalities.
But more than impressing the audience with his talent. Pocholo impressed upon the students what he learned from his journey about passion and dedication. He challenged the students to go beyond simply thinking of their career after college, and instead discover what they could do that would contribute to positive change. Pocholo also talked about the greatness of Dr. Jose Rizal and challenged the students to imbibe his principles and ideals.
Pocholo also made his talk highly interactive by calling on volunteers who would like to showcase their voice acting talents onstage. Three brave souls took on this challenge and in turn, Pocholo gave them an opportunity to visit their voice acting workshop.
He also gave a free copy of his award-winning book, “Gusto Kong Maging Voice Talent,” to one student who stood up and got it. Pocholo served the quick activity as a reminder to the students that if they want something, they have to stand up and get it.

Pocholo ended his presentation by sharing the stage with one of his students and members of VoiceMaster’s League, Dannes Serrano. Dannes serenaded the audience with a song and then went on to share how the VoiceMaster helped him jumpstart his career in voice acting.
The talks were followed by the Comguild Media Awards in the afternoon, which recognized numerous TV and radio personalities for their contribution to media.
