The VoiceMaster Speaks to DepEd Youth Formation Trainers on Voice Care

The Department of Education Bureau of Learner Support Services conducted a 3-day Advanced Training for their Youth Formation Division facilitators. The training was held at the Whitewoods Convention and Leisure Hotel in Silang, Cavite on January 28-30, 2019. 

Over 50 YFD facilitators from different divisions across the country attended the training. The Advanced Training was geared towards raising the level of awareness on DepEd’s core values and their integration to YFD initiatives.

Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales was one of the guest speakers in the 3-day event. He spoke on the second day of the conference, where he tackled about Voice Care for Teachers. Pocholo began his presentation by introducing what he does as a voice artist and why he is recognized as the VoiceMaster. 

He presented the statistics on why teachers are prone to voice problems, and the challenges in getting medical attention for such. Pocholo also shared the top 3 myths to taking care of the voice, such as taking lozenges and whispering to prevent vocal damage.

Pocholo went beyond simply talking about the voice, and inspired the facilitators to reflect on the way they are teaching, especially the young generation today. He reminded them that the internet and social media greatly changed the landscape of how kids learn, and teachers today have no other option but to adapt and make adjustments in their role as educators.
