[3 of 8] Immersing In The Art Of Dubbing: Mr. Jordences Villasan Imparts His Knowledge and Experience to VoiceWorx Batch 50

October 19, 2019---VoiceWorx Batch 50 immersed in the world of dubbing, thanks to Mr. Jordences Villasan who shared his knowledge and experience through a fun-filled and motivating session.

There is a huge market of Filipinos who love watching foreign shows dubbed in Tagalized such as Asian dramas, Japanese anime, and Western series and films. It is made possible by a team of voice acting artists, dubbing directors, translators, and many more. Who will forget the phenomenal hit Meteor Garden and beloved animes like Ghost Fighter and Dragon Ball

Dubbing is another specialization that voice acting artists can niche down. It is an art form in itself due to both the technical and creative factors harmoniously blending to create the final output.

Mr. Jordences taught the VoiceWorx Batch 50 the importance of dubbing in the perspective of localization---for foreign materials to be more understood and appreciated instead of only using subtitles. He also discussed why studying different accents play a huge role in becoming an effective dubber. He happily shares these things as he was once a student of VoiceWorx too, from Batch 43.

Researching is equally important as well rather than just imitating a character or a peg for a dubbing project. Mr. Jordences provided a detailed guide as to how a beginner can nail delivering the dubbing for specific characters through comprehensive research.

But, he reminded as well the VoiceWorx Batch 50 that the natural tone of their voice has corresponding matching characters. Yes, it’s a plus to have several characters that a VO artist can do, but it’s not the only requirement. What’s more important is to flawlessly ace every dubbed character given especially if the directors had cast a VO artist for it.

Mr. Jordences discussed thoroughly the VoiceMaster’s formula using 6 significant factors in creating and sustaining character voices. This is critical because any slight changes in one of the 6 factors can immediately produce a new character.

The VoiceWorx trainer for the third day of the workshop made it a light and fun learning session too. He shared his own experiences, gave tips, and recalled funny anecdotes he personally encountered in the dubbing industry. It further encouraged the VoiceWorx Batch 50 students to craft their own path in the voice acting career they’ll choose.

The VoiceMaster, Pocholo Gonzales, and his former student, Andrew San Fernando, one of iFM 93.9 DJs, have visited the morning class to share their insights too. Mr. Andrew motivated them by sharing his humble beginnings until he reached this stage in his career. He’s a proud graduate of VoiceWorx too.

The art of dubbing became a more interesting learning aspect of voice acting with the effective teaching strategy of Mr. Jordences Villasan. VoiceWorx Batch 50 students anticipate more for the next coming sessions.
