The VoiceMaster Holds Voice Acting Workshop for Sorsoganons

DepEd Sorsogon, in partnership with Music and Soul Productions (or MAS Productions) celebrated National Arts Month with a week-long event entitled “MAS Tunog Bicol Music Festival 2019,” held on February 18-22 at the Sorsogon State University.
The VoiceMaster

One of the highlights of the festival was a whole-day voice acting workshop, conducted by no less than the Titan of Filipino voice acting, Filipino motivational speaker Pocholo “The VoiceMaster” Gonzales. The workshop was held on the second day of the festival, with over 100 participants who filled the venue. After the opening ceremonies, Pocholo began the workshop with a high-energy icebreaker to liven up the crowd.

He then introduced himself and told the story of how he became the VoiceMaster of the Philippines. Pocholo talked about his company, Creativoices Productions, and the experiences that led him to establish the first and only voice acting school in the Philippines where a majority of voice artists, dubbers and hosts have been trained.

Pocholo’s inspiring journey was also filled with frustrations and challenges, which he courageously shared with the participants. He spoke of the politics and monopoly that surrounded the industry, which has been transformed since the founding of his school. With his story, Pocholo etched a powerful message in the hearts of the students and reminded them that passion and dedication are key ingredients not just to be successful, but to create positive change.

Of course, the audience caught a glimpse of Pocholo’s voice acting talent with his repertoire of voice impressions – from cartoon characters to famous personalities – which also sent the crowd roaring with laughter.
The Voice Caster Jeffrey Gusayko

After lunch, the workshop continued with Creativoices’ Chief Production Officer, Jeffrey Gusayko. Jeff was one of Pocholo’s students in his voice acting school and has since then worked hand-in-hand with the VoiceMaster in the company’s voiceover and dubbing projects. Jeff is also the Head of the VoiceMaster’s League, a group of alumni from Creativoices that promote the art of Voice Acting.

Jeff shared his experiences particularly in voiceover for commercials, events, and narration, and gave the audience tips on how to “play with the voice”. Jeff also made the session interactive with some exercises on reading scripts, where he also gave constructive feedback to the participants who volunteered to read in front of the audience.

MAS Tunog Bicol Music Festival also featured a Radio Scriptwriting Workshop, and a Songwriting Competition.
